One simple action that can change everything for weight loss in menopause
I decided it was finally time to clean the windows recently and I suddenly realized just how much more light floods in when they are clean!
I thought they were fine, maybe a little smudged, but once they were clean the transformation was incredible. Everything looks brighter, clearer, and more vibrant.
And it struck me that this was a lot like how we feel in our bodies.
We plod along thinking everything is fine. The niggle in the knee put down to age. The clothes that are feeling a bit tighter but still kind of fit. The mornings that feel lethargic but improve once coffee is consumed.
You think you’re doing okay, functioning at a decent level, but if you made some very small and easy to achieve changes you may be surprised at how much more mental clarity, energy, and vitality you suddenly have access to.
As we go into midlife insulin starts to run the show. We find ourself eating more sugar mindlessly for the quick hit it give us, but it’s short-lived. Then comes the crash. The fog. The irritability. Over time, our bodies gets stuck in a loop of energy spikes and crashes, gradually gaining weight, sleeping badly and beating ourselves up that we have no will power. But not realising how rubbish we actually feel.
But I get it - the step to take to get started feels hard and overwhelming. That's why I have left my windows for so long!
So if you are tired of feeling constantly tired. If you have had enough of feeling below par, but just the thought of trying to change feels overwhelming then try this one simple tip:
Take a 10 minute walk after you have eaten your evening meal. Nothing more - just a 10 minute walk. Because that movement will help you start to regulate insulin. And like I said for most women in midlife insulin is running the show. A small action like this can lead to other action that will also contribute to improving insulin regulation. Which in turn leads to easier weight loss in menopause.
With better weather and longer evenings can you take that one small action to help you start to feel better? Let me know if you do.
