3 actions to feel good in your summer clothes

Spring is here, and with summer just around the corner it’s time to start thinking about shedding our cover up winter clothes. But if you’re dealing with bloating, some winter weight gain and poor sleep, knowing where to start to make some changes can be difficult.

Often we go to the old equation of calories in V calories out. And think the way to reduce weight at this time of year is to go on a calorie restricted 'diet'.

But if you have tried every diet out there and nothing seems to work then it might be time to try a new approach. And it does not involve misery or anything medical.

If you have been eating to much sugar or artificial sweeteners over the winter these can cause inflammation, disrupt digestion, cause weight gain and interfere with deep sleep.

The result can be a bloated tummy, sluggish mornings, and an inability to manage weight effectively.

But here is the good news - Just a few small daily changes can make a huge difference to how you feel in your summer clothes.

Here are 3 simple actions to start making some progress towards feeling better in your summer clothes this year.

  1. Start your day with protein, not sugar: Swap cereal or toast for eggs, Greek yogurt, or a protein smoothie. A protein-rich breakfast keeps blood sugar stable, allowing the right hormones to activate for easier weight loss

  2. Go 4 hours between meals: Grazing keeps insulin levels high, making it harder for your body to burn fat and regulate digestion. Give your gut time to reset between meals to help reduce bloating, and insulin time to reduce to help reduce appetite

  3. Drink more water: Dehydration slows digestion and worsens bloating. Aim for at least 2 litres daily, and swap fizzy drinks for herbal tea or lemon water

Small, consistent steps lead to big changes. Start today, and in just a few weeks, you’ll feel lighter, more energized, and ready for summer!
